vs gearbox- wont change in reverse

hello need help with a vs acclaim nov 96 build, first can someone tell me whether series 1 and series 2 gearboxes do they both fit in the same any mods needed, or what can be wrong, gearbox changes okay into drive etc but wont go into reverse like it is still in park, there is not even a kick back at all just hoping i dont have t change the box. and what gearbox is in nov 96 acclaim series 1 or 2 please and the colour of the plug for each series also.

Car will be a series 2 (changed June '96). Auto will have a sticker on bellhousing with I.D. - should say 96HDD. (96 is build year). Think series 1 will fit but not VR or earlier.

the link said something about a worn boost valve where abouts is it pleae in the gearbox

Not sure where this valve is..but probably in the valve body. Here is another link which explains everything about the 4L60E - it's a zip file and contains heaps of data:
