    Default Ecotec push rods

    Hi guys,
can anyone tell me if both ends of the push rods for an ecotec should be nice and round (like 2/3 of a ball) or one end should be slightly conical (the end that goes into the rocker) when looking side on? All my push rods look like this, not just one or two.
    Thanks.

From memory they should be the same both ends...nice and round. When they wear it will be at the rocker end just like yours. You can just turn them around so the round end is up top again or leave them as-is.....(the book say to replace them but it all depends on how much you want to spend on the car).
If the valves were not rattling before you probably would be OK not to replace them but that's your decision.
On some cars the spherical ends of the pushrods are case hardened meaning once they wear through the case hardening they wear more rapidly but I'm not sure if this is the case on the Commodore.
Someone else on this forum will know more.
