i just upgraded my sound system over a 1/2 year period.
was gonna put splits in the front but the stereo guy showed me these mtx speakers which he showed me he had put in his own car.. so i sort of thought well if the owner of the store has em in his car they must be ok.. they go pretty hard

so i got 6 inch cones in the front and got new tweeters (if you look on the dashboard right near the windscreen there are little 'vent' like things which have factory tweeters underneath which are most likely non functional anyway but the stereo fitter ripped them out and put my new tweeters in there.. they really make the difference i tell you.

i also got mtx 6x9's on the parcel shelf. i quickly found though it rattles quite badly. i lined underneath the boot lid with dynamat which stoped a tiny fraction of the rattling, so i then pulled the speakers out and took the parcel shelf off (the screws are concealed by the back seats so you have to remove them first) and lined it all as best as i could with dynamat.. i used about a sheet and a half and could have prob done with a bit more so 2 sheets will see the job done. just a matter of using a hair dryer to heat it up to soften it to make it easier to mould to the metal ( i got a bit of a strange look from my mum the first time i borrowed the hair dryer lol)

that has deadend the rattling heaps but i dont have any subs yet so im still running bass thru all the four speakers mostly to the back though.

also i would recommend staying away from pioneer head units unless you are a whizz with head units. i found mine was fairly easy to use but whenever the battery was disconnected the stereo would totally reset itself to factory and i would have to get the stereo guy to reset it up for me because the rear speakers would go into subwoofer mode.

please post photos when you get around to the stereo
