My odometer and Trip counter stopped working a couple a days past, the speedo was still showing my speed, just annoying having the counter and odometer out of order.
Anyways i picked up a new cog for the speedo on eBay for around $14 including postage.
I was very suprised when it arrived this afternoon and seen the size of it as it is not any larger than a shirt button and hardly any thicker and it has 25 tiny little teeth surrounding its circumferance, and yes the whole thing is no larger in diameter than a shirt button.
Upon pulling my speedo apart i discovered that only one small tooth was broken on my cog, never the less apparantly it only takes one broken one to cause the odometer and trip counter from functioning.
Prior to starting the job i typed in "broken odometer" into the search box here and did obtain some excellent instructions and a series of photo's posted by a user called Chris, and i must say it was a really great help in me accomplishing the repair as it now is functioning once again.
Just attached one photo of the little damaged cog, the photo makes it looks massive in size but in reality its the size of a mans shirt button.
The repair job is somewhat tedious but if one is patient carefull and methodical then it can be accomplished, and i didn't swear once, true....

Hey good work! - but can be a real pain to fix if you put the cog in upside down![]()

I found that the speedo needle would not just pull straight off and i had to revolve it sideways and pull up on it at the same time.
Also when it came time to slide the whole unit back into the dash it took an amount of fiddling to get it at just the correct angle to slide into its rear connecting plugs, and then when i was attempting to insert the two little round black plastic spacers for the top screws i fumbled each one and they rolled down towards the back of the unit so i had to retrieve them carefully with a long peice of wire, i did not really want to remove the whole unit again.. from its plug in fittings phew !![]()
I do hope the yellow aftermarket cog that i got offa eBay seller "parts_lunacy" is more durable than the original....
