    Default removing brake calipers

    ok people whats the secret? ive been trying to undo the bolts to remove my front brake calipers on my VS this morning and they wont budge are they left hand thread or something?? i need to get them off so i can put new rotors on

    Use a socket and a breaker bar if you can. They are not left hand thread.

    thanks mate got em off with the old poor mans tools (ring spanner & hammer)

    When replacing the bolts, don't forget to Loctite them and torque to correct specifications. 90NM + 50 deg.

    +1. I lost one of those bolts on the highway a few weeks ago. Not a fun experience

    That's they way I normally do it. I was going to mention it but I didn't want anyone jumping down my throat for using a hammer on a spanner. You have to watch the advice you give.

    Happened to me a few days back. The bottom bolt fell out. Lucky it was just at the end of the freeway so I was able to tie it up out of the way and limp down to the mechanic.

    i did this, and the bolt snapped lol... lesson learned use a high speed penetrant

    I was hearing knocking over bumps that whole day, but couldn't find the problem (caliper was still tight and wouldn't budge), so it must have just been working its way loose.

    Sure knew about it the minute it came out completely though
