Hey guys just a quickie,
My King Spring Superlows will be going in very soon hopefully and i was just wondering what everyone has done with 235/45R17's on a Holden VS Ute. It almost looks like they will fit and not scrub without rolling the guards? Any opinions as i have a little bit of tub scrub which is caused due to the tyres having the rim saving lip but was wondering how the outside of the guards will go?
Shame that the only thing i can really do to stop the inner tub scrub no matter how minimal it is, is too go smaller tyres or wheel spacers which are illegal
Any advice?
They should fit fine, heaps have the same sized tyres and their utes dropped 3in or so without a prob

let me know how the superlows go, i might have to get some if they turn out good. you getting an adjustable panhard rod and shorter rear bumpstops too?
i'd say your issues are gonna be on the inside of the rear guards when one spring gets more compressed than the other. i get rubbing with only lows in the rear, but its predictable when it happens.
Already have an adjustable panhard rod and i was hoping to get away without shorter rear bumpstops? What you think?
i think you'll probably be needing some shorter bumpstops, depending how much lower the superlows are than lows. i've got about 15mm ish when no load in the rear between the bumpstop and the diff..
so i guess you'll be needing the bumpstops, but i guess it couldn't hurt in waiting and seeing what happens with the standard ones. i saw somewhere that the bumpstops are around $60, not sure from where though.
Hmmm interesting, could you possibly find out where and what brand and how much you saw those ones for as a google search doesn't really provide much info. Whats involved with the new bumpstops?
BTW could any of the guys who are wholesalers on here possibly give me a quote on what it would cost for lowered shocks for both and front and rear and just the rear only, along with some shortened bumpstops if they are necessary?
I guess it would be mainly the rears that are the problem. Would it be best to get shortened bumpstops along with lowered shocks?
Thanks
Matt.
yeah i'll have a look about, i know pedders do them, but not sure who else. yeah lowered shocks are a must, my lows only just stay captive with stock length shocks in the rear, but the front struts are ok. it wouldnt hurt to get shorter shocks all round, it would make a mess having the springs fall out driving.
i havent looked closely at the rear bumpstops, but at a glance it just looked like a few small bolts holding each of them on, maybe 7/16 headed ones. just undo them and put new bumpstops in i assume, with a bit of loctite or similar just in case.
they would have to be stiffer in their construction than standard ones due to the decreased length too i guess.
pedders part number is 5489, but i cant find a price or a length of them..
So in the end the best i could do with would be the following,
King Springs Superlows All Round (Already Have)
Shortened Shocks All Round?
Adjustable Panhard Rod (Already Have)
Shortened Bumpstops All Round?
Will i need any new bushes or similar do you think? Currently the stock suspension is very good, well it feels like it to me. Anything else i have forgot? Or that i should be aware of?
Your help is much appreciated
Matt.
im not sure if you can buy shorter bumpstops for the front, there probably wouldn't be enough clearance between the tyre and inner guard, but i haven't really thought about it that much. i'd just keep the front bumpstops that are in it now if they're in good cond, then see how they go.
the front bumpstops are pretty likely to get a pounding so if they are slightly perished, you'll soon be replacing them (which i need to do on mine haha).
are you fitting the suspension or getting someone else to do it? it wont take much to have a look around at all the bushes to see how they are, but from what i've heard the link pin bushes from the front swaybar wear quicker when the car has been lowered.
Again thanks for the reply it is much appreciated. Currently the car handles very well so hopefully the bushes and front bumpstops will not need to be replaced when the setup is installed unless you can get shortened ones to suit or similar? A m8 who has done plenty spring installs in cars including his ute is more then happy to put em in if i supply the beer.
Only reason i said lowered front bumpstops is i saw them on the pedders site.
I want the ute lowered but i don't really think i want it half arsed as it'll probably annoy me if it bottoms out alot etc so hopefully bumpstops/shocks will help that
Matt.
my mate has a vs ute with ultra lows and 245/45/18's on with no worries, so you should be fine mate.
