Hey,
Alright, now pretty much every man and his dog seems to have had the same problem as me. Obviously as you have guessed my CC unit in my VS Berlina is not turning on, although it will on the very odd occasion, and when it does, it works Perfect!
I Have read EVERY thread on this, everyone says to replace your relays, fuses, switch units with another, and I have done ALL of these, but yet still no luck, now the only other thing I can think to do, is to replace the CC wiring loom. Now what i would like to know is whether or not this may resolve the issue, or does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem once and for all!
Thanks Heaps, for everyone who bothered to read all of the Above it is much appreciated!
Mark.
Anyone? Please........
I have the same problem! Very annoying! An explanation would be great from someone![]()
ok just an obvious point have you replaced the actual control head with a known working 1 even if it's a borrowed 1 start your process of elimination as you said it comes on randomly it could be a cracked track in the control head, fusable link or similar, after that get a wiring diagram and see if the correct voltages are there going into the head, use a multi meter to check and see if your relays are working on the wire output side in the actual wire could be a bad connector, many small thing to look for in an electronic operated system.
Try the system with the controller plugged in but out of the dash and wriggle the wires while turned on, see if you an get it to quit. This should confirm the CC loom.
As said above ^^ - I'd try a second CC head unit see if that's the issue.

Hey,
Alright yes i have tried it with a working unit from my friends Vs Calais, but still seems to pack up. I have had another thought, that it just seems that it doesnt work on very hot days, but the last couple have been cooler and it's been working.
And everytime I have tired it, it has been on a warmer day. So thanks for the advice guys, I will now have a few things to test out and try to get this damn thing working again haha, cause its really annoying that I bought a car with his gadget and it nt workinglol.
Thanks!
I had the same problems, like you with my climate control unit. It was the wirng going to the back of the climate control unit. In the end i had to change the wiring for the climate control and never had the problem since.
NEVER LATE IN A 355ci
Had the identical issue...
found that if i tapped the relay it would work.
The terminals for the relay were dirty and loose. used a small driver to close the terminals up a little and has worked 100% for last 2 years.
Does it light up at all with your headlights on? Make sure the Check Lamp Relay is a metal 5 pin one.
my vs calais is doing the same thing cutting in when it feels like it!! but when mine decides to cut in there is a noise from behind the glovebox direction like something opens up behind there then away it goes????? any ideas please!! this is a real pain in the arse especially as its freezing and i have to wait till its ready to be turned on before i can use my heater....
I ended up getting a brand new c/c unit, and that fixed the problem, sold the car not long after, and told the guy if he has any problems, give me a yell, but didnt hear anything so im assuming it was all solved! so yer try getting a brand new unit, picked one from ebay for $100.
A lot of the climate control problems are solved by changing the relays.
The ones prone to affect it are -
1. Engine cooling relay (high speed)
2. Engine cooling relay (low speed)
3. Blower relay
4. A/C Relay
More commonly, strangely enough, the engine cooling relays will make it fail to start.
The relays in question have the yellow stripe on them. Replacements are about $10 ea.
Try changing the engine cooling relays first, then work through the others. If this still doesnt solve the problem, then try replacing the control unit.
