Default Coolant in sump - No Oil Pressure - WTF??

    hey all,

just changed the timing chain/sprocket on my VR, i went to start it without the radiator in just so see if all was ok. And NO oil pressure Also, i could see some sort of smoke, gas whatever coming out of the block where the coolant bypass hose goes into!

After stuffing around with this for a while and unable to get oil pressure i put the radiator in and went to pour in some coolant. The sump then filled up with coolant... before i even started the car!

I took the timing cover off, re-fitted it again and im sure its on properly...but the same things are happening.

Im guessing my engine's rooted. Anyone know what it could be/what i've done??

    Ryan

P.S. anyone selling a good condition VR V6 let me know :P

did you use a gasket/sealant between the block and the timing cover?

timing cover is fine. personally i believe it to be block related there was signs of corrosion on the edge of the block water jackets. its very strange

did you use a new gasket?

you sure you used the correct timing chain? the oil pump is driven of the lower timing chain sprocket hub.

new gasket, high temp goo, and jp perforamce chain and sprocket. crank sprocket was the same detail as the original. prelubed the oil ring with vasaline. filled the oil filter with oil, took out the pressure switch and filled with oil there. moved the crank forward and reverse muched around for over an hour . still no pressure

i would say timing cover not sealing as well cause the suction for the sump pickup is on the front timing cover sounds like its sucking air not oil gasket goo is bad should only need the gasket
