Some problems VR Statesman-

Hi. This is my second car and it is so much different to a datsun and I need help. Car has 220,000 km, 5 Litre.

Problems I have been having
1. The computer. I just put in a new battery and the car kept stalling when I tried to start it. It started on the 4th time and there was a lot of beeping going on. I also notice when it was in park and giving it a few revs, my trip computer was telling me I was travelling along?
My fuel gage won't move of full since my last refil. I ran out of petrol yesterday and my Distance to Empty was telling me 500km. I have looked at this post vr fuel issue.........
do I need to do the same. I have tried smacking the fuel tank.I also run out of petrol 2 two times when it has been just under a 1/4 of tank. Is this common with these tanks?

2. The climate control. I have a similar problem to Air con not coming out of top vents????
but mine randomly switches of the dash vents and comes out nowhere, like it is blocked and then all of a sudden starts working again for a few minutes. Anybody else has this problem,

3. When changing the battery, I had to use the new battery with jumper leads so my alarm would not deafen me. I have no radio now. Checked all the fuses and they are fine. Have I killed it.

With v8's. If I take care of it, how many km can I get out of the motor. The motor is in great condition. It has stalled on me twice when called going in to reverse but I think that one of the chips I have read about.

I am on a crappy wage and saved a long time for this car so I dont really want to go to a mechanic unless I have to. Cheers
