im having a little trouble starting my vr... it always starts but its having an intermittent problem where it sounds as though its seizing and not turning then it kicks over, blows blue smoke and then is fine. the funny thing is its only sometimes this happens
Battery almost dead. The blue smoke could be because of worn valve stem seals.
As above. Aren't you running high compression? - if so you will need a battery thats 110%.
could be a leaky injector sticking every now and then dribbling fuel into the combustion chamber causing that one cylinder to have higher comp and to slow the starter when that piston gets to tdc then firing and causing the smoke.
My mates ef does this sometimes when it sits for ages
Float like an elephant sting like a tree clubsport hits what doug does'nt see
Could also be rings on their way out although unlikely if its only occasionally...as mentioned above may be a valve but might be worth getting your injectors cleaned and checked first.
What would be the point in getting injectors cleaned and checked? Spend 200 bucks or more for nothing. Injectors have nothing to do with the OP's problem and besides he says it's fine once started.
Mate Clubby you and arklayctl are right. Leaking injectors will cause the exact problems he has.A leaking injector (if not to bad) wont effect it once its running.
The OP said it puffed blue smoke. Burning a lot of petrol won't do this. Oil will.
Yeah your right ,if its petrol it will burn black smoke out the exhaust, unless it's mixing with oil from the cylinders, but I doubt there would be enough oil on the cylinder walls to make blue smoke though. hmmm, tough one to answer.
