Question MY VR ACCLAIM converted to manual - need help and opinions

Ive had my VR for about four years now and it was out of action for a good 6 months while my other half did the conversion to manual.

I love manual rather than automatic on any given day and no way can i get back into an automatic car unless of course it was an emergency.

I am really interested in anyones opinions or own experiences in what i can do to get better performance out of my car. Since the conversion i have had alot of dramas with the electrics yet no faults show up on diagnostics. It pulls really slow and i dont get the full potential out of my motor.

My partner wants to rebuild the motor that is in there but i wouldnt mind getting a reconditioned one and go from there but i dont want to do anything unless i have alot of research on it.

    Any help will be appreciated!
    Cheers
    Julz

You say you have had a lot of trouble with the electrics. Did you use a modded loom and ECU? And are you still running the auto tune?

Also, when you say diagnostics, do you mean testing for error codes? Code 12 will flash 3 times before any other codes are shown.

MIght be better if your partner logged on to describe what they have done and what it is doing.

R J K hit the nail on the head about the auto tune/ECU though, it will be nothing but problems unless properly sorted.

    Exclamation

we bought a conversion kit from gold coast that came with everything except the ecu, that wiring loom was cut to shreds when we unravelled it so we bought another conversion kit and an eleccy played with the wiring to make everything work.
So im running the manual gearbox and wiring loom off an automatic ecu ...
a few people weve spoken to said that that shouldnt be a problem but its just been not right ever since.
I just want to know if anyone has SUCCESSFULLY converted a VR so i can see where we went wrong?
And i cant seem to find manual ecu's anywhere, someone told me theyre on ebay but i havent found any. I wanted to chip the ecu but theres no point until i found out where the problem is.
