ok im gunna have a crack at this next week just wondering how hard it is top change my front hub on my 95 vs exec it has abs apparently that makes a difference? from what ive read on here theres only 3 alan key bolts to undo after i take the caliper and rotors off right?![]()
The allan head bolts are locktited in and can be a bitch to get out ,you can buy a allan head drive that attaches to a ratchet that makes the jobs easier & pretty much you said above is what you do but you will have better acess if you remove the bottom two shock bolt and swing it out of the road
As for the hub if you get the wrong one the brakes will feel hard and shudder and lock that hub up volently So Make sure you get a ABS HUB but the IRS or Standard diff is what makes the difference so double check
I just used an allen key with a length of pipe on the end for leverage - use same method when replacing.
I only lifted the caliper out of the way , removed the disc and then could access the 3 bolts by turning the steering wheel.
As vsl67 says, you must get the correct hub - left is different from right hand plus the hubs are different for solid and IRS. If you don't have ABS then just make sure you get the correct side.
pretty sure its not IRS its too low to look under but i had it jacked up the other day and could kinda see under there.
You definitely don't have IRS. VS executive models all had live axle.

I should have also mentioned that the series 1 VS exec did not come with ABS. No IRS, no ABS, not even an airbag.

Its all i good i know its got ABS
We're talking about a 95 VS executive right? What makes you say it has ABS? ABS was only available on the VS Acclaim model and upwards.

The ABS light on the dash doesn't necessarily mean ABS is hooked up or installed and the ABS logo on the stereo surround is just a sticker that could have been peeled off a car at a wreckers or the stereo surround could have been replaced at any time with one from an acclaim.
The simplest and quickest way to check if you have ABS is to pop the bonnet and look for the ABS module. It's a black and silver box located on the drivers side between the engine cover coolant overflow bottle and has a bunch of very thin metal hoses attached to it.
I've attached a pic to show you what I mean. If you don't have the module, you don't have ABS.
