Default Check Engine Light comeing on randomly.

In the last week the check engine light has come on twice, both times I've just been driving along and it's come on. Both times I've pulled over, turned the car off, waited a few seconds before turning it on again and the light hasn't come back on.

I did the paperclip thing and got Code 12 - System Pass. It runs fine, no changes when the light comes on. It's not overheating, oil is full, coolant is full, can't seem to find anything out of place.

Any ideas? And should it be ok to keep driving?

    thnks John.

p.s Dunno if this could be related, but I got new headers and exhaust fitted a couple weeks ago, and all the welsh plugs replaced.

Just at a pinch, check the oxygen sensor on the exhaust to see if its all plugged up good. It will log a code if it plays up, but its odd your not getting one showing.

sounds like you have an intermittent fault condition sensor on its way out or corrosion in a terminal somewhere , is the car on gas ???

    Nah cars not on gas.

Update as of today, just came back from a drive of about 2hrs. The light kept coming on and off the whole time, completely at random. And no matter what it will go off if I restart the car.

I'm only checking the comp with the paperclip method, how ever accurate that is?

Looks like you got it VRWagz Just checked it again, got code 12 twice then started showing code 13 - O2 sensor no signal. Without jacking up the car the 02 sensor feels tight. So what does this mean? Can I still drive it? Might have to give the exhaust joint a ring and see if they'll fix it for me.
