odd wiring problem

Ok so recently the fuse panel below the steering wheel of my car caught fire, I have since replaced the wiring loom but have encountered an odd issue.

The cluster wont display how many kilometers the car has done, unless the headlights are on, I'm a bit baffled any suggestions would be welcome, at this point I wish I had let the car burn.

It may be relevant, but I also need to replace the BCM as the headlights wont work, unless I put a different BCM in, this is on a 1996 VS Berlina, with a LUX 147 BCM, however on either BCM the cluster still does its funny things.

Oh well back to get raped for another set of keyheads, anyone remember how to fit a new BCM, you leave the ignition on for an hour untill the alarm is deactivated yeah?

Problem resolved, the trip computer wasn't getting power.
