Ok so I have a new BCM, two programmed keyheads from Mister Minute, put it all in, and it wont even crank?
Did they stuff up the keys, or do I need to rub two unicorn horns together and sacrifice some goats?
Do the remotes unlock the doors....and does the immobiliser light go out?
no and no.
Oh and I forgot to mention I spent a fair bit of time searching, on here and on google, didn't turn up the actual procedure for fitting a new BCM with keyheads.
Am I correct in thinking that you just whack it in there (it is the correct one for my car) and then with the key it will work.
Then again the BCM and loom came from a car that had been stolen then written off then I assume recovered and sent to pick a part, the car had (HOLD STOLEN) Written on the windscreen.
Then again though, the car works fine with my OLD BCM and loom, except the old BCM wont let the headlights work. wonder if I had the wiring diagrams for the old bcm if I could just fix that.
It's a 147 LUX from a VS V6 if anyone has them.
Can I ask how much the keyheads and programming cost you per key? As I need to get 2 new keys for my VR and the best price I can find is $95 per key which includes 2 new remotes + new new key blanks cut + programming.
Is everything plugged in properly with the bcm? If the keys don't open the doors or start the car then either something isn't connected properly or the keys haven't been programmed right.
everything is connected correctly.
I figured that there would be no real ritual, its just that last time I paid holden to do it and they claimed that it required disarming of the theft deterrant system along with a few other "things"
I would say $95 for a keyhead + blank + programming is fair (Is that blank cut?) it is $59 per keyhead programmed from Mr Minute, just make sure you bring your vehicles VIN number, I forgot my VIN number today, so we used the code off of the BCM, he was unsure though, so it's my fault.
Oh well i'll make a trip to the wreckers, get the VIN from the car the BCM came from, then head on back to Mr Minute.
Have you followed the instructions re fitting a new BCM as per the Gregorys manual?
I have a Haynes, it doesn't have a section, that I can find about the BCM.
pm me your email address and I'll scan the pages for you ....won't have time tonite but will do first thing in the morning.
PM sent, thanks Hako it's doing my head in. I plugged it in, no go, I left the key in with it on acc for an hour, it starts, turn it off and leave it for 20 seconds, it wont start anymore.
So I can disarm the theft deterrant system if I really NEED the car, but man if I needed it that bad, I wouldn't wait an hour, i'd walk :P
ok well the guy at Mistir minit (Thats how they spell it) did get the code wrong.
However, he made a few phone calls and I supplied the VIN from the car that the BCM came from and he reprogrammed the keys, yes the Misiter Minit keys can be reprogrammed, I watched him do it.
I followed the instructions he gave me for a fresh BCM install but it didn't work
Car cranks now though, locks and unlocks too, i'll have a go at the info you and hako have given me seraphic and i'll go from there.
At the moment im getting Code 31 - Theft Deterrent Signal missing.
yeah anyone else got any ideas? that didn't work, still got the error code. and it still wont start.

Try pressing the unlock button whilst the key is in the ignition and watch the immobiliser light - it should go out.
ahh ok i'll try that, the engine light is the same thing yeah?
Sorry for being so lame, it's been a long task, I have barely slept in a week, all I do is go to work, fix car, shower sleep. rinse repeat, at least now it's just down to one annoying little thing.
No - not the engine light - it's the red flashing light below the wireless (that's in an exec). The Berlina must have a similar light somewhere to warn that the immobiliser is ON.....check the BCM diagram I sent you. Or check the owners handbook for location(factory one in the glovebox). When the key is out there will be a flashing red light designed to alert you (and the baddies) that the immobiliser is ON.
After a week of frustration I'd burn it!....but then I have been there many a time and resisted so far.
However....if it ain't working I'd be triple checking every single thing that was done to the car after the fire.
I'd even hotwire the lights if the old BCM works except for the headlights.
I don't know much about VRs or VSs, but later model I think the ECU and BCM have to be matched, usually by a Tech2 at Holden. I may be wrong though.

no the red light isn't flashing.
Niether BCM will work now, engine light stays on, error code 31 wont clear, I left the key in the ignition for an hour, but the battery was almost deadso it's charging.
Dad is sick of me using his car, his going to pay an auto elec to come look at it.
Acarmody, pre VT cars do not have this security option, while there is communication between the ECU and BCM for this circuit they are not linked in that sense.
Hako if I get the OLD BCM in and working again, I will do just that, bypass the headlight circuit from the BCM, I just wanted it to be all perfect and working and proper, that persuit has probably left me with massive paper weight.
Another point to mention is that I had swapped the BCM back and forth without incident, but when I put the new one, I did as mentioned in that info you sent me and it all went to shit when I tried to turn it over. I think I should have just gone to Holden with the BCM and bent over for them.
Thank you everyone for your help, you have been great, however its rooted, the end. goodbye.
Will there be a postscript...a happy ending???![]()
Yes there is Hako,
The car is now going, but I no longer care for it, i'm looking into getting a VP rolling shell and making something worthwhile, this car was a budget piece of poo anyway, no wonder its the daily driver and coles carpark thingo that I drive there.
Thank you guys for the help, turned out to be an earthing issue, my dad had the car towed to Holden as he was sick of me using his car, one more night with multi meter and I would have found it.
It's been a long journey. Buy proper shoes.....and Good Luck.
