    Arrow Any kinda help - A B S - VR SS

have had a problem getting any codes for abs system in my vr ss.
I have tried shorting the 5th and 12th pins on the diagnostic connector but get nothing. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ilies/hmmm.gif Engine codes work fine (5th & 6th pins) does anyone know why???http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ilies/bomb.gif
I need these codes as my ABS off light is on and hydraulic brakes not the greatest.

any slither of help very much appreciated!
cheers. sorry for double post dont know had already posted.

Mate I dont think you can flash diagnostic codes for the ABS or SRS ,just engine managment. There is nothing mentioned in the gregorys manual just the engine codes .(code 12 =everything ok)etc

I also think diagnostics on the VR is not easily (if at all) done - VS had a newer Bosch system which is more friendly.
But anyway, the ABS cannot affect your brakes - if they are "not the greatest" it will be due to other reasons .....pads/discs/calipers etc.

If you wanted the SRS codes you would turn the ignition on then bridge 13 (brown) and 5. That doesn't help with the ABS I know.

There was a change made late in VR, possibly with VR series II, regarding the diagnostics. I don't know which way it went, whether it became possible or no longer possible to extract the codes though. Sorry. The later ABS computer/module has a pink (salmon?) sticker to ID it. Maybe someone else can shed some more light on it.

Even without the code(s), are the 10A fuse and the 60A fusible link under the bonnet OK? Often an ABS fault is in a wheel speed sensor or its wiring. If one's completely dead you might see it (or not) vs the other, presumably working sensors, using a multimeter with a frequency function.
