Had the weirdest thing happen today when driving home, was turning left around a corner with my left indicator on obviously when there was this cracking sound as I was turning the wheel.
The wheel locked slightly and I had to sort of softly 'wrench' it back to the right to get it to respond.
Then turning around looking for a carpark something kept cracking as I was turning left. The noise has gone now however, the indicator doesn't click off when it is on left (when you turn sharply the indicator will flick off once you have straightened) it sort of makes a cracking sound and stays on, though it doesn't do this when it is on right, it clicks off as normal.
What could this be? Faulty indicator stalk? Time for a new stalk? Fuse?
cheers in advance!
sounds like indicator stalk cancel has broken. pull it out and look at the white part that is on the end of it, closest the steering wheel. prob broken one of the springs
Incidentally, I just noticed that the wiper stalk is also jammed, it will go down but is firmly jammed and won't move upwards, I think there is something seriously caught up in the BOSS
the wiper stalk shouldnt go upwards from the off wiper position do you mean when you put it down to turn the wipers on it wont go back up?, pull your wheel off and inspect the little white things which click when you turn your wheel
That's rather embarassing, I got home late last night to take my ipod out of my car, thought I might have a fiddle to see ifI could see what the problem is and in my half asleep state I totally forgot about the fact that the wiper stalk doesn't go up!!!! haha.
So yeah, the only problem is that the indicator makes a funny noise and it wont click off when going left. I'm taking it to my mechanic tomorrow night. See what he can do from there.
Ok Got it fixed this morning, wasn't the indicator stalk at all. It was the connector at the back of the steering wheel that connects to the BOSS, one of the plastic things that connects to the indicator stalk that enables the indicator to flick on and off. Just had to get a new one as the old one was worn away, obviously broken and loose!
