Default vs ute questions, centre console and electric window switches.

g'day, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this.

im going to be converting my 3 seater to 2 seater very soon, so i am curious about the centre console.

as the sedans and wagons have the vents at the rear, do the utes have the vents, or is it a completely different console and have no provision for the vents.

also, im going to put in electric windows, is the window switches for the utes in the centre console like the sedans? is the switches the same size as the sedan, with it just blanked off for what would be the rear windows or is it completely different.

    cheers

The console is the same shape, but it doesn't have the rear vents. You can use a sedan or wagon console, and just not connect the rear vents (just take the piping off). Its not like you'd ever see it.

The switches are a different story. You'll have to buy sedan rear door switches, and use them in the fronts. Not sure about the plugs tho, i assume you'd have to buy the loom and plugs from another ute (or a car optioned with just front power windows) to use those switches, since there a completely different size plug to the switches with 4.

yeah thats what i was thinking about with the console, whos gonna be looking at the back of it everyday telling me off haha.

so with the rear door switches, still mount them in the centre console? it will be some stuffing around but sometimes thats just what you've gotta do.

i'll hit up the local wreckers again and see if they have loom etc from a ute or car with only electric fronts. hope they do!

Front power windows became stock on VP Berlina's, so maybe look for one of those.

And yes, just put them in the normal position in the console. Maybe even get the console out of the car you find for the electrics, then the switches will fit perfectly
