Default install info on corvette servo.

hey guys. ive heard a few of the residents on here ie greenfoam etc. talking about corvette servo's.

and im just interested in getting one.

    firstly
What exactly does it do? and will it cause premature wear to my box? my car has 180 thou on it and shifts well. with 205's and an lsd will chirp 2nd on occasion.

and how hard is it to install/ how much would a tranny specialist charge to change them?

    cheers for any help guys.

hey mate dont quote me on it i got 1 but havent had a chance to try it yet as box was ****ed um all it does i think is make the box shift hard into 2nd and a tranny specialist didnt charge me to much bowt 400 i think but that was for a hole shift kit insatll also so that lil corvette servo is easy to do yourself anyway as well i half attempted it

To the best of my knowledge, it's just a larger surface area for the bands to hold onto, so it can shift substantially quicker/harder.

I have one w/ stage 2 shift kit as well, personally I wouldn't do anything to a 4L60E without installing a trans cooler first.

Fitting I'm not sure, you don't have to remove the trans pan though. That comes with the shift kits.

Corvette servo is more bigger piston inside so it can hold more pressure thru the band than the ordinary ones, this servos act as your 2nd and the 4th gear. Well not sure about premature wear to the box but i know that some late model box already have it, i mean factory fitted but still depends how you drive the car. putting this servo is not that hard unless youve got extractors, then this will gonna be lot harder.

go on you tube and look up corevette servo, easy as pie or just look up 4l60e on you tube, it will having something for the 2nd servo.

The only thing to watch with making the shifts in a 4l60E firmer is that the standard band isn't that big or that great.

Toughen up one part of an auto and all you do is put strain on another, don't get me wrong this is about as tame a mod as there is, plenty of cars have ran a corvette servo for years without a problem.
