Hey,
I haven't really ever paid much attention to my exhaust, i always presumed it had a 2.5" mandrel bent system, but the other day when i was under it i actually looked at it for the first time, now im thinking maybe its just a factory system, with the mufflers replaced with a hotdog?
if it is just a factory unit, i will be replacing it pretty soon, THIS looks alright, and has a good price, does anybody know how they go? or sound? Or does anybody recommend another cat back system for around $220?
its stock, just modified a bit...
goin by pics, its had the centre muffler replaced with a "hotdog", [which is now illegal], and a straight thru piece of pipe in the rear...
if its s V6, get a full single 2.5" system..but, if ya can, get twin pipes out the rear on each side.. will sound heaps better as well..
if its a V8, get a full single 3" system..
if your happy with the sound, just leave it
its just a 6..
has anybody seen or heard these systems?

hmm ok thanks, do you think it would drone more or less that my current system (just a hotdog)Supposedly they are fine, just droney as most 6's are, i have a muffler and hotdog and still have a bit of drone at a certain rpm, so that one would just be worse i guess.
and if i added my hotdog to that system would it still be an improvment from what i have atm?
Not sure how it is atm, isnt registered yet... so it only gets driven from the yard to the workshop (litterally across the road) but when i give it a bit of a rev in neutral, it dosent really seem to drone, but it could be a very different story while the car isnt stationary..Yer if you got the other one just by itself it would be less droney, and it would be even better with your current hotdog on the other system as well as the muffler, still plenty of noise too.
Whats the drone like currently?
haha yeah was just to have abit of a laugh lol
yer ok thanks
its goin for a roadworthy next week, so hopefully ill have a chance soon..
Also i was reading about drone, and apparently it can be caused from the exhaust vibrating, and the vibrations going up through the mounts the the underneath of the car and making the noise worse, and changing to rubber mounts can make a noticeable difference?
Anybody heard anything like this?
I've got a catback 2.5inch, with pacemakers. It drones at 1500 RPM which is pretty much exactly cruising at 90 in 4th. (its an auto).
1000RPM is fine, and so is 2000, but just at that 1500 mark it goes right through the cabin.
Manual VS Ecotec, Standard headers atm, 2.5" with hotdog. CAI, Engine in great condition.
Mines is silent under 1100rpm, pickes up at 1700 and goes all the way to 3200 before it's all engine and no/little drone. Sounds big cruising at 2200.
Pacemakers go on tomorow![]()
