    Default Eclipse Wagon problems

    Hi all,

Just recently got the old family wagon...VR Eclipse Wagon (Auto) ('95), and have encountered a few problems.

Just recently, after a bad day, reversed the car, and (prbs from just trying to change gear quickly after being in Reverse) went to put it into drive, yet it slipped into 3rd gear. Went to drive off, yet the car just rev'd and after a second or so, i heard this *clunk* noise come from somewhere (didnt hit anyone), and now, the breaks have become extreeeeeeemly stiff (i.e. break pedal), and when in Parking gear, the car just rev's itself...up to 2000revs/min i think......and just found out this arvo, the key warms up when in the ignition...

ive checked the break fluid (as some have suggested) and check all other fluids/oil's and so on, yet all of that is in order.
ive been told it might be the gearbox.

Just wanted to know what the problem might be before taking it down to the mechanics.

    All help appreciated!!!

    Cheers,
    Sam

sounds like the vacuum line to the brake booster has become detatched or broken.

it would give you hard pedal as theres no vacuum assistance, and the engine would rev because of the air been sucked in.

the line goes from the brake booster, (big round black thing behind where you check the brake fluid), to the bottom of the throttle body, (below where the accelerator cable attaches)

    yay!

    thank you sooo much!!

    works perfectly now!

i was a little unsure whether there was a part of the cable that snapped off or juts broke, but it just slotted back into place and is now sitting in there tight

    thanks wamboin23!
