Hey everyone
I know this is going to be a needle in the hay stack but I thought I'd post to get some ideas on what this noise is. I currently own a 95 VS wagon 5 speed (with a t5 box) and I'm getting a noise that only happens sometimes (5% of the time) when I depress the clutch. The clutch cable is fine and adjusted and the clutch doesnt slip at all.
Basically it sounds like a grinding noise when the clutch is fully in. Generally will happen when I'm slowing down and shifting back gears but it will make the noise if I just depress the clutch and roll along. The grinding will stop as soon as I reengage the cluch (either in neutral or in gear)
I've searched a few of the posts and have read some posts on the throw out bearing going. Could this be a possibility? Any other ideas would be appreciated.
the clutch release thrust bearing is stuffed or will be soon. will have lost all it's lubrication and is running dry.
to fix it you need to drop the transmission. may as well take the clutch off and check the clutch plate as well as you wouldn't want to have to pull the box of again within a couple thousand k's to change the clutch
