VR exhaust rattling noise

my vr ute makes this rattling noise kinda like plastic beads inside a tin can, everytime i accelerate or decelerate. it sounds like it may be coming from the catalytic converter.. but i have replaced the converter with a performance magnaflow cat and still the same sound. maybe its the noise from the extractors going through the cat? can i get rid of it? also i didnt notice it after i put a new lukey glass pack in untill a few days later..

My mates magna does that when he gives it some, we were always keen to know what it was and never found out just said to everyone theres a marble in the exhaust

have you lost one of the rubbers? with out it your exhaust might be hitting the hook.

nah nah nothing like that, its a shame because it really ruins the sweet sound of my exhaust, especially when it echos off of walls and cars.

It could be a skin rattle on the actual muffler. See if you can get under it and look at the muffler when it is revved. The skin will vibrate if it is the problem.

but its a new muffler, and the old one did the same,

rattle or tick noise...a tck tck tck tck tck could be a small leak in the back of the manifold gasket

Something else it could be is where the engine pipes come together, there is a tab of metal welded in there as a divider, this breaks off and rattles inside the pipe. Get under the car and tap the Y pipe and see if it rattles.

yeh good one ill try it out this weekend, possibly if it is it would be getting pushed against the cat ceramic core and blowing around against it, to small to fit through.

There is one specific model of pulsar that does this i think its like the 98 models or something that all rattle when at high rpm sounds like the exhaust i have noticed a couple do it and always wondered what it is

i know i'm a bit late, but i had what i think is a similar noise to the one you are describing. noise can be heard here: YouTube - 304 Pinging

i replaced the exhaust today, and the sound is all gone . i don't know where the rattle was coming from, didn't look like it was hitting anything, maybe the muffler had fallen to bits inside or something.

I had a similar rattle in my car, turned out the muffler was rusted to pieces inside, and what i was hearing were flakes of rust rattling around.
