I never had, as long as there off the ground, and hand brakes released your right. Just do it up a 1/4 or 1/2 a turn until you get it right. Once you know how to do it, you will just do it by feel and test.

hi buddy dont pay $50 for somone to do it as said by tom its easy as

Get under the passenger side of the car you will see a cable that comes from both wheels thats the one you need to tighten, follow the cable from the wheels it goes to a half moon shape thing with a couple of nuts (should be 2 nuts) tighten the nuts and your done.
dont over tighten the nuts tighten a lil bit then check do this till ya get your 7 clicks
all the best hopfully save ya $50 and 45min trip

the handbrake shoes are inside the rear disc....its like any drum brake setup....i always undid the rear caliper and swung it to the side...loosen off the handbrake then slip off the disc and check the handbrake shoes and that the adjuster isnt siezed and note which way the adjuster adjusts...fit the disc back on and remove the rubber grommet and insert the adjusting tool and rotate it in the right direction till the disc locks up and back it off 3 or so clicks...back on with the caliper and then adjust the cable till the handbrake lever comes up about 6 clicks....all done...

note...even though its only a handbrake and not regular drum brakes the shoes can wear unevenly if you continually adjust by the cable alone over a period of time...

Hi,Commydoor is right ,you can adjust the handbrake at both places,I always adjust the brake shoes first(explained above but i dont have a brake shoe adjuster tool)except mine is done through a hole in the front of the disc next to the studs. Some discs dont have this hole, all I do then is remove the brake disc ,You gotta remove the caliper, two bolts.
Then wind the adjuster with a screwdriver and refit the disc.I keep doing this until there is a sorta tight fit when the disc is put on.This is usually enough to get the shoes expanded closer to the inside of the disc and get a better adjustment,You dont want to expand the shoes so far that the shoes will rub hard against the inside of the disc,The disc /hub should still turn fairly free .Put it back together, and finish the adjustment at the front adjuster. Turn it to get about 5 or 6 clicks on the handbrake.

Just to verify you MUST adjust the shoes first with the lever slacked right off. If you only adjust the lever the shoes will forever drag, and your handbrake wont work for crap. The lever will also feel spongy.

So the job can be done without adjusting anything except the 2 nuts but in the long run its not all that good too?

If its to get it past a roadworthy or a Defect, then yes that will work. Long term it needs to be fixed properly.

my gregs says to leave it on the ground. put itin gear (or park), click the handbrake up 3 times then get under (make sure car is cold cause the exhaust will hurt) and just turn the nut clockwise untill it is tight.. $50 for a CAI or something, problem solved..

As said there's two places to adjust it. At the handbrake shoes inside the rear discs, and also underneath the handbrake lever. Most people just do under the handbrake lever.
