    Default Fuel Pump

    G'day guys me again,

I have got a stuffed fuel pump in my 94 VR stateo. And was after a guide on how to replace one. I have already got a new one to put in so if any one has the time it would be much appreciated.

    Regards.

You should be able to do a search on this subject and find lots of info. Anyway to change the pump, get the rear of the car on jacks, empty the fuel tank at least well below the fuel pump flange opening. Unplug the 12v cable and proceed to remove the little plastic dust cover [if there is one!] and then the bolts holding the pump flange onto the fuel tank.

Now the tricky part as it won't come straight out. Not much is 'easy' on commodores. The assembly needs to be wiggled and turned around very gently to clear the internal fuel tank baffles. Hard to describe in words, but its important to take note of how it was removed [angle etc] so you can repeat the proceedure when installing the new one.

With the pump assembly out, follow any instructions that came with the new one on how to remove the old pump off the fuel line, filter etc. Be aware that the whole assembly is a little fragile and you may bend the fuel sender lever if not carefull.

They say to use new bolts on the flange, I used the old ones and seems fine as its been running now for 6 months.

    Good luck.
