they are all cas codes they may be old ones reset the ecu by dissconnecting the battery and recheck codes .if it is hitting the cas its not gonna last long

just checked the codes and this is what they are

Code 46 - No Reference Signals while cranking

Code 47 - Crank Angle Reference Signal

Code 49 - Crank or Cam angle Sensor Intermittent
if it was being hit by the balancer these would make sense wouldnt you think??

no forgot but i did disconnect the positive and negative for around 15 mins that should have done it? ive just cleared them and double checked that it cleared i'll run the car for a bit and do it again. i only had to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds to clear it so im thinking it would have cleared the 1st time as well? better to be safe than sorry and make sure its done right though

nice looking engine u have there. if u have a mirror on a stick check the wearing on the cas with the back fins as there shouldnt be any wear(shouldnt be with the vs as its isnt adjustable). sounds like harmonic balancer to me . get both the balancer and the cas changed at the same time.

Its the balancer...I did the timing chain and a little while and later that noise appeared ...balancer looked fine but it only needs a bit of runout especially when there is belt tension to do it....it has a section of steel on the inner part that runs close to the outer part of the balancer and it hits if the rubber between the two parts gives a bit due to age...it wont fall off as it is captured but sounds bad....genuine they are exy but you can find them aftermarket in most big shops.
