got a defect last saturday night as the cop sais my seat belt does not retract back into the housing fast enough ( when you pull it down and let go it does not go back in ). i went to the wreckers tody to get a new one and realised there all the same, i must have tugged on 30-40 belts.
my question is, is it possible to replace drivers seat belt with the passengers or rear one just for the sake of taking it down to vic roads?
cheers
too be honest i think your better off getting it fixed properly, its not gonna cost you a arm or a leg...and its guarenteed cop proof mate
where i get that done though? and how much you rekon id be up for?
Last time I had to buy a seat belt I think it was between $100-$200
i know alotta people are gonna have a cry when i put this here, but i'd go to your local holden dealer, its guarented and shit.
im guessing if there good to ya, 100 bucks at the max
geez thats opened my eyes, it only costed me $90 at my holden dealer in quirindi
are there any other solution? paying 100 bux cos my seat belt gets sluggish for the last 4-5 inches is a fuc*ing joke. it still goes tight if u pull hard so its sweet and ready for any accidents
also if i do go to holden will they have to order them in you rekon or will they be in stock?
yea it is a bit harsh... umm find some smaller mechanics around in your town, get a price and see how you go...the main killer mate is labour..... and seeing as you got defected for it.... im pretty sure it needs to be fixed and cleared by a qualified mechanic...i think thats the way it works? some one correct me if im wrong
they (cops) just said fix all this shit and take it to voc roads in 7 days
ok then... mmm suppose been in vic and me been in nsw....but that asided...if you feel like you can do it, buy a new unit for it and install it yourself...it shouldn't be hard and it should only cost ya bout $50
where from though? i have no doubts i can put it in i just cant seem to find one that does not have the same issue
just buy it from your holden dealer ( btw if your thinking, i don't work for holden haha just making that clear )
or repco haha .... but remeber ... repco...

hahahaha never heard that one before, thats gold. so both holden and repco stock vs seatbelts? or they have to order them in? appreciate your help mate
umm repco will order it in im pretty sure .... and if there anything like the ones in tamworth ... omg you won't worry about paying a extra $100 haha ****ing fart ass pricks.. i still got a split fire kit up at repco...be ****ed if im gonna get it ... i already got one some where else haha
but yeah holden should be the way to go, if they don't have one in, they'll get it in pretty farking quick
feel free to use that if you want haha
cheers mate,
What I did was remove the belt from the car then pull as much belt off the retractor as possible then wash by hand in warm soapy water followed by a rinse in Softly or one of those fabric softeners. The idea is to remove all the grease and crap from the belt allowing it to be softer and more flexible and hopefully retract fully. Keep water from the retractor.
This cost nothing.
hey thats a good idea, never though of that
did it actally work though hako?
It worked on my VS but didn't work real good on my old Jaguar -t that was a 1970 model and I figured the retractor spring was tired like the rest of the Jag. I normally do this to my belts every few years - you'd be amazed at the colour of the wash water and you wouldn't want to think about the bacteria living in that belt.
also take note that the retractor mech has to be position in the way its mounted or it will not pull out again as there is a bearing lock. sumthing to do with roll overs
