pretty sure has to be out the back, any exhaust out the sides is illegal, only cars that were made that way can get away with it, and i mean cars that where made 30 or 40 years ago
only show cars can get away with it, cause there show cars.

I thought it was ok for it to be dumped under the car as long as its something like 12 inches from the most rearward door, not out the side though i don't think.
i thought it had to be as it came from factory in the way of shape and mufflers...
so you can replace with 2.5inch as long as it follows the same path and has same amount of mufflers etc.
yer i unno aye i went and got it done so far all my engineer mates and mechanics say its legal it only hased to be 8 inchs past the last closing door and i have twin cat and twin hotdog the dumb ass didnt put twin muffler on it like a payed him to its too loud and doesnt have that sweet note i wanted
arc angel ss come to destroy
I know that in WA the exhaust has to exit from the furthest rear part of the vehicle, which is almost always the rear bumper. Any shorter, eg dumping at the diff or out the sides, is illegal.
Don't quote me but im quite certain (In NSW anyway) the exhaust has to be 6 inches (?) past the last opening window on the vehicle minimum.
Something along those lines.
But the best way to find out instead of listening us bunch of wankers would be to ring the RTA and ask them yourself.
Yeah. Ring their technical help line. The gals in the office won't know much but that helpline will.
I also believed it was 6" past the last opening window but why would a NSW law use imperial and not metric???
The exhaust has to exit past the last body seam, because the ute has a one piece body, the exhaust has to exit out the rear.
