Not sure if it's what you're after, but my new VR runs at around 1/4 on the gauge. Less than that on cooler days, but when we had 43 degrees in Adelaide, it only went just above 1/4 driving then up to half when sitting and idling for a bit but straight down to 1/4 when driving again.

my old VR SS and current VS V8 are the same, however there are a few people on here reckon their VR-VS's sit on half when cruising and 3/4 when idling at the lights

Temperatures are not on the gauge - my experience is that anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 normal running and up to 3/4 stop/start or up a steep hill. Closer to H means the engine is getting into the danger zone.
