I bought a set of pacemakers, tuned length, because I had cracked standard manifolds. They made it heaps better on fuel and made it run heaps cooler, dropped it by 1 mark on the gauge.Paid about $650-tuned length are more expensive, but they seem to run better with them. The ones on ebay there are probably a good replacement for the standards.

I can do you a set of extractors and a 2 1/2" cat back system for $550.

Extractors are worth getting if you aren't expecting huge increases of power. You will get an improvement in acceleration and better highway economy.

    Where in WA?

Is it true that extractors to suit an auto are different than ones to suit a manual? I don't want to get a set that will not fit a manual.

The series 3 uses the VT style full circle bell housing and all the extractors for previous models foul on it.

in most cases yes they are different, mainly just the Y peace.

i put a set of extractors, exhaust, pod, cai and a tune, cut my 0-100 time from 9.5 seconds to 7.1, oh and a shift kit in there as well

but yes you notice the fuel is better as well, gives the engine a different note, and alot more engine noise in my opinion, only at higher revs.

but a must have is the exhaust, and once exhaust is done its best to do intake as well, and cai is a must with these cars as there is alot of engine bay heat, especially with extractors as they seem to heat up more than the standard manifold, but how you hear people say standard manifolds are the best for them, i totally disagree.
Vs eco 3.8, extractors, 2.75" exhaust, roller rockers, cammed, bored out 20, t5 manual, rolling on king springs all way round with monroe gt shocks all way round, every door has a ding but looks can be very deceaving

And the 4L60E. As far as I have read the VT bell housing is a little bit different (as not_an_abba_fan mentioned).

I bought my extractors a while back.Tuned length ones,Straight away I noticed the car had more power, is better on fuel, and runs 1 mark cooler on the temp gauge(highway and around town). It sounds good too.Well worth it.

YouTube - vr calais ,ecotec swap, hsv twin 2.25 inch exhaust

cost roughly 600 all up but i got the extractors with a 2.5 inch system for 200 and i got the system off a vx clubby with cats for 80 the rest was in fitting
