    Default VS V6 Running Hot

    Hey everyone,
my car was running hot (almost up to H)
so today i flushed out the block and radiator ( i followed the guide in the how to section) replaced the thermostat and refilled it with new coolant, but its still running above half if i sit in it idleing for a while it goes up to three quarters..

    Any ideas??
    Cheers.

take out the gauge temp sender and clean the crap off the back of it refit it and check the gauge again...either your fan aint cutting in, the radiator is partly blocked or its just a freekin hot day and everything is running hot...

I think it's normal for it to be around there.
Does the Thermo fan kick in still?

    Hi Mate,

Dont know if this helps, but i used to have a vs v6 ute. I whent through 3 radiators in 4 months. I finally had it checked out at an auto electrician, and they found whats called ELECTROLYSIS. Take your car for a check man, it will eventually destroy the motor if you dont have it fixed. i'm not saying thats what youve got, but sounds as though your at the beginning. Sometimes the electrolysis cant be removed, resulting in a full engine rebuild or new motor. good luck. Also, its apparently very common on the vs due to poor earthing. It's basically stray electrical current passing into your radiator and heating it up.

I dont know how much it costs. shouldnt be much.

go to an auto electrician and have them run over the car and check if it is electrolysis.
If they find it they can remove it buy either running a chemical through the system or sending the stray current somewhere else, basically re-earthing the system.

I didnt get my problem totally fixed, luckily mine was written off from a truck on my way home from work. But the problem did spread into my transmission and was getting jammed in 3rd.

    good luck.

Do your homework first! - electrolysis damage to your radiator will only happen if you are not using the correct coolant...and even then it is pretty unusual. Do not believe everything you read.
It is normal for the temp to go to 3/4 before the fan kicks in. If you are using proper coolant there will be no buildup of crap on your temp sensor.
From your initial post I would say that you have nothing to worry about as long as you are using proper coolant and not water.

My mums dick head of a fiance needs to rip a page outta your book.
He has screwed his cars up majorly.
He has a Ford EF and a 30's Model A.
He puts water of all things in the radiator.

If he has a '30 Model A he can't be too bad but the Falcon EF....wel, I'd put water in that too as it would hasten it's journey to the crusher
