took my 96 vs to vic roads today to clear some minor defects with number 1 being tail light (no reflectors and and bulbs had a pink tinge to them). i fixed this by putting the stock tail lights back in, however when she has asked me to put my parkers on they came on but so did all the break lights,.
they are permanently on when ever parkers or normal lights are on but now when the parkers are off.
thought it may for some reason have been that i adjusted the handbrake to tight but after closer inspection this is not the issue.
ANY IDEAS?
by the way they wouldnt clear it due to this
cheers
????????????
got a 1 prong bulb in a 2 prong holder in the parl lights by any chance

As above, check the bulbs.
It could also be a faulty brake switch (On the pedal) although never heard of the problem occurring in reverse (the problem is usually the switch fails, and no brake lights come on)

s*it yeah, i owe you guys. although they were double prongs i found myself questioning myself so i double checked and took them out, right bulbs but for some reason my car does not like them at all. cheers guys, was ready to loose it.
one could be blown shorting out the other filament or in 180 degrees out and not locating the pegs in there grooves fully making it short accross both terminals

As delcowizid said, its often the buld turned 180 degrees out. The slots in the sockets are loose as and you can easily turn the bulbs too far.
