Hi guys, just a quick question, I've got an Immobiliser on my vs clubby, the sort you have put a little metal plug onto a button and that lets you start the car, but lately, It seems like its been working on and off, I haven't needed to do it to start the car and some days i do, Anyway, i Think this is the reason for alot of my electrical faults, Can i trace the 2 wires going from my immobilizer and disconnect it?
Hrm i shall take a few pictures tonight, Its like a sensor, 2 wires attached to it, and a little plug that says HSV on it, and you have to connect them together to start the car. I think it's from hsv stock? either way i will take a picture, It's causing the greatest of problems i think, as i said in my other thread my tacho sometimes occsionally goes haywire and displays gibberish and flashes all sorts of lights and displays " FAIL ".
lol ur not crazy
nah im pretty sure its a real hsv thing i remember reading they have it
and sorry i cant help i got no idea about them
Hotwiring?
In all seriousness, just for clarity, the factory imobiliser is disarmed by the key. When you put the key in, it makes contact with some metal around the key barrel. The key is what disarms the imobiliser. I'm sure there's somebody who can explain it in more depth?
Hi there, I know what your talking about, as I have the same little HSV plug thing on my key ring that you have to make contact/just touch with the other half of the immobiliser in the car so you can start it, if you dont, it dont start, key only turns on the stereo and power to the windows and thats all.
Havnt had any problems with mine, but Holden Dealer told me not to loose it, as it cost $1600-$1800 ( NZ Dollars ) to replace it?
It is a vs series 2 hsv thing located under the centre console lid .
Is there to stop them being stolen bye simply leaving the key on for an hour like what happened to like 80 vs series 1 hsv's at the docks when they were stored there.
Myn has been disconnected but my mates one still works I dont know how it was disabled as i bought it like that.
But is a factory hsv thing.
Cheers Doug
Float like an elephant sting like a tree clubsport hits what doug does'nt see
Haha nice i'm not crazy then!.
Mine only sometimes works, some days you have to use it some days you dont, Anyway i figured thats the reason why i'm getting caused so much electrical hassle
This is what you are referring to, I wouldn't try fiddling around with it. Send a PM to Doctor Bob on this site:
HSV ISS (Integrated Security System)
The HSV Integrated Security System (ISS) is a microprocessor-controlled immobiliser, which automatically provides isolation of three of the vehicles essential circuits every time the ignition is switched off. The immobiliser is disarmed using a unique coded tag, which contains a small chip with a specific code to provide maximum security.
Operation of the ISS is simple. The module arms automatically after the ignition is switched off. Disarming the system is achieved by inserting the coded tag into the socket in the status monitor. Which on a VN through to VS is located on the underside of the centre console lid. Confirmation of the disarm is provided by the LED changing from flashing to constantly on. The VS Series III (Ute or Statesman) and the VT Series 1 utilise the key reader through the ignition barrel to disarm the system. The status monitor on these vehicles is located in the glove box.
The system is supplied with two unique black user "TAGS" and one unique red "MASTER TAG", the red master tag is used only to delete stored codes for lost tags or to introduce new user tags to the system, or to 'learn' a new ignition key on VS III or VT. This is the only way for new tags to be introduced and if the red tag is lost the system has to be replaced. The system will recognise up to five black tags at any one time allowing for multiple users of the vehicle. The custom moulded housing for the tags is fully waterproof.
The electronic module has been designed so that in the event of power loss (flat battery or theft attempt) the system will return to the same operating state when power is restored, e.g. if system is armed when power is disconnected, it will return to the armed condition when power is restored.
To further enhance system security there is no connector on any of the wiring at the module. All wires entering the module are black and of the same wire gauge (except tor the status monitor wiring) making it impossible to disconnect the module and plug in any form of override.
Hi there BlackVXGTS, after reading your reply, it got me thinking. Is it better to use the BLACK TAG all the time, or use the RED TAG all the time?
pretty sure it is factory(optioned)i no alot of HSV's mainly vs and vt's that have them..and i also have it..
the 2 wires go back to the ignition, and is wired into i think its the pink and yellow wires at the back of the ignition barrel...i wouldnt suggest taking it out or trying 2 bypass it, but if you really want to ring up HSV and see what they have to say
