I have an odd problem with the brakes on a VS with ABS
This morning when I went to apply the brakes to slow down for a roundabout the ABS brake pedal started to pulse and I could hear the ABS pump kicking in, I was not braking hard etc just normally. Continued to do this everytime I braked, left the car for a couple of hours and now it is back to working normal. Cr has new rotors, pads both front and rear as well as new front bearing hubs - all done bit over a month ago now
oh also when the ABS kicked in thsi morning the car pulled to the right but only when the ABS was working
Any ideas please
check the air gaps of your sensor , bleed the brake fluid
Thanks
I take it you mean to check the air gaps on the rear sensors since the front are sealed in the hubs
Shall try bleading the brakes again but for last month it has been working fine
recheck what was done if it was working ok before the work was done then maybe something has changed . could be a sticky caliper slide pin when cold .. air in the system ???
everything has been working for over a month now but will recheck everything anyway
Check the connectors to the ABS hubs - they may not have been fully pushed in when you had the hubs installed and this may be telling the ABS unit that one wheel is rotating at a different speed to the others.
You say the car pulled to the right when the ABS was going - this may indicate that the left front hub is giving the wrong rotational speed signal and the ABS cuts braking to that wheel causing the car to pull to the right.
Finally looks like I have the problem sorted, checked everything mentioned as well as ABS fault codes and BINGO code 25 front left speed sensor fault. given that I have checked the wiring, plugs etc only thing left is the 1mth old hub. Have spoke to the place I got them from and they are going to replace it under warranty.
in the mean time I have just removed the ABS fuse from under the dash and car now brakes straight again)
Thanks for everyones help on this
Got the new hub today and when I took off the faulty hub - found the problem straight away - the grey plastic sensor basically fell out. Looks like it had never been pressed in properly, explains why it was int in the early stages. All good now so I am a happy camper again
