Driving home this arvo in the heat about 100k's. Had the air con going the whole way. most of the driving was highway and was running fine then hit some traffic near home and it just died at about the 3rd set of lights.
No idea why, No error codes.
The only thing out of the ordinary was that I filled up with Shell E10 this morning. I always avoid that crap where possible but that serve didn't sell regular.
Tried starting it a few times and got nothing. I had a hunch it was something to do with fuel so i swapped all the relays around and it started up about 10 minutes after it stopped.
CAS, DFI and coils are only a few months old and no codes so i doubt its them.
Any ideas ? I'm totally stumped here, other than to buy a new set of relays and cross my fingers??
Maybe one of the relays is stuffed. It sounds more like the dreaded CAS problem, but you usually get codes showing up.I doubt the fuel would do that.Unless you have a crook fuel pump or blocked fuel filter.Did it actually start straight after you changed the relays, and which ones did you change.
CAS is prime favourite even though it may still be 'new'. Ignore the fuel factor as E10 is used by the majority with no problems plus it wouldn't just stop. This leads onto the stop - if instant it "has" to be electrical. If the stop was not instant and maybe 1 second of missing then rapidly wound down then maybe fuel pump.
The heat and time factors to fix all point to the CAS.
first swapped the small relays, fuel pump with something else. nothong happened so i also swapped EFI with horn i think, and the fuel pump with another one.
Then it started up straigh away.
Hako, when it stopped it was missing for maybe 3 seconds then just stopped .... just before the crest of a hill too dam it !!
Once it started again it seemed to run fine and got home no problem, which was about 5 minutes further.
Its probably a faulty relay.Just renew them (the ones you moved)and see how it goes.
I had my fuel pump die after putting a full tank of petrol in ,it pretty much just dies and wont start and its a real pain draining the fuel to replace the pump
