Hi,
So i was cruising along at 60kmh today when all of a sudden i engine power, noticed the revs dropping and car started to stall, felt like i was out of fuel allthough i have a half a tank. i managed to pull over and had a look under the bonnet, everything seemed fine no obvious problems. started the car again no worries it idled for about 5 seconds then started to stall again. This went on for another 30 minutes checking things like fuel lines fuses plugs leads coils etc.
I pulled out my gregories book and started going over the trouble shooting, ignition on felt the fuel lines pulsate as the pump built up the pressure, check throttle sensors and maf etc everything seemed fine.
after leaving the car off for about 20 minutes while reading my book and checking things i started the car again and held the accelerator on 3k RPM for about a minute incase the car was flooded and everything was fine, let it idle for another 5 minutes and everything was sweet allthough there was a rough idle every 2-3 seconds, not too bad, RPM did not drop but i could feel the engine shudder a bit, but only when idling.
i managed to get the car home, about 30k's from where it brokedown and didnt have another issue, allthough now im worried its going to happen again.
i suspect on the fuel system cause my car takes a bit to start ever since i bought it, turns over for about 5 seconds before it starts. ive got new plugs leads and air filter, gearbox and engine oil has been changed, only thing i havnt done yet is fuel filter.
Does anyone have any idea where i could start looking? id hate to change the fuel pump or anything like that and it not be cause, and id especially hate it if i broke down in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any help.
change your fuel filter and see if that helps. I had a similar problem and took my old filter off and you could hardly blow through it put new one on and no problem now.
also possibly the CAS. they can cause issues when they get hot although normally the engine dies and won't start again untill it cools down. if it happens again poor some cold water over the CAS and then see if it will start

i had a mate mention the CAS today aswell, what sort of temps are we talking for it to be an issue? my car was sitting on about half which is normal for this car.
Ill change my fuel filter tomorrow and also going to try test the fuel pressure just to make sure, after both of those are done i guess i need to start looking at things like the CAS.
if the CAS or fuel filter dont fix it check that the breather line for the fuel tank isnt blocked.
if the car stalls again like it did. loosen the fuel cap, if u can hear a heap of air getting sucked past the fuel cap into the tank then the breather hose is most likely blocked or kinked
