Hi guru's,
I have a VR that's currently got the stock suspension and really want to lower it to make it look a little better and not handle like a boat, but at the same time I don't want it too low so that it scrapes on every speedhump...plus I have a crappy steep driveway.
So I'm thinking 2 -2 1/2 inches all round would be plenty??
Are King Springs and Pedders good brands?
Also I'm in SA and aren't quite sure on what the limits/regulations are regarding lowering it.
Any info would be appreciated.
Hit the 'FFS SEARCH' button. This question is asked pretty much every week so a search will gve you the answers you want.
Re: nathg
What would the fun in that be? Anyway I'm after a specific answer to my question, not really interested in reading through somebody elses love story....and if all we did was read old posts then it would be a pretty boring forum....
Thanks Tr3nt, exactly what I was after. I was going to ask exactly how low the Kings "super lows" were. Sounds exactly like what I'm after. Thanks.
Can we rename the search button to "ffs search" ?
Actually the forum would be better if it wasn't cluttered with the same old questions.
And not to make this thread totally pointless. I would recommend superlows all round, check out my vr wagon to see what your car may look like, although i have to say, where i live i should have gone for lows instead. I keep scraping almost everything.
Hahaha yeah, i'll give some 'real' help aswell
I've got ultra's in the rear of mine, scrapes the exhuast everynow and then on speed humps. It is only on really big humps and when im not carefull that other things besides the exhaust will scrape
I wouldn't go to a shop and say you want it x amount lower, rather have the part number of the spring you want just to save yourself time and hassel if you aren't happy with it.
Thanks for the info. I'll be picking up the parts and fitting it all myself and then getting a wheel alignment, as I can do the hands on, but I just wasn't sure on what is a suitable/practical height.
I'm looking at getting a set of supr lows, and new shocks all round to suit, probably throw a set of new rubbers all round the suspension...etc Is there anything else that I should replace/alter while I'm at it?
adjstable panhard if it is a live axle diff, if you are gonna lower 2.5 inches it will probably move the diff to the side
Cool, nice wagon. Also is that the standard trim in the VR? It's the same pattern on the door trims as my equipe and I'm trying to get hold of a new left rear door trim the same as mine was damaged beyond any repair...You don't happen to know the trim code by any chance?
EDIT: Adjustable panhard rod...what do they cost these days? Also is there any benefit of getting one of the....umm... the bars that goes in the engine bay fbetween the strut towers...can't think of the bloody name of them!
Strutbrace, and no I can;t say there would be any real benfit for street driving, but it can't stop us from wanting lol
this might be a stupid question but, why are the part numbers on king springs so important??
cheers, Lauchlan
last weeks VR ride height thread here contain the eye brow heights you need to know in SA.
VS is 360mm (front) and 350mm (rear).

I have Super Low's in my VS. Would recommend them to anyone.. However you still have to be careful, super low's are only 2" but I scrap a shit load of shitty jobbed speed humps, and have just stuck a hole in my muffler (good thing it's still the stock one).
If your wanting to tow with it I would say get some suspension with it, I saw a great deal at Autobarn $650 bucks for new Monro Shocks and Super low's, As the springs don't do much to the actual bounciness of the car, and would certainly dump the end down even more then wanted if towing.
Hope this helps!

I'd rather go lows in front super's in the rear to even it out and it wont scrap too much maybe... May need a camber kit on it as well dude.
Hey guys, sorry to Hijack the thread but im looking at lowering my VS too. I like the look of the commie with the front a bit higher than the back so would I be safe to go UL in the back and SL in the front? Also around how much would I be looking at for parts+labour? Just want to know a rough price before I start calling around.
Depends on how good the parts are or if there a nice place.
It can be upwards of $700
