The plastic side tanks get old and crack after a while. Same happened to my VR a couple of years ago. The radiator shop I went to said it would cost more to replace the side tank than to get a complete new radiator.

With a screwdriver + pliers and a couple of spanners, it took me less than 1 hour to swap the radiator. You will also need some coolant + radiator tablets.

blah, If you're talking about those holden spec coolant tablets, dont bother. All it does it sludgify your radiator with brown shit.

If ya gonna end up having to change your radiator, go thicker than the pissy 25mm core. Might hurt your wallet a bit, but you'll get over it and it'll be better in the long run. And stay away from those tablets.

$300 roughly. That was in Brisbane.

don't bother replacing the tank cos all the other bits on your old radiator will break soon anyway. New radiators or under $200 from radiator shops, ring around try Natrad etc.

    ^^^
Now that I think about it after what greenacc has said about the rest of the radiator being old I should have got a new one.

'CarGo Metallic Seal Up', this stuff has fixed a welsh plug for me and for another mate welded cracks in an engine block. And its safe to use in a car with nothing wrong, it will just go throught the cooling system and fix any rough edge or cracks. its miracle stuff, fully reccomended for coolant leaks. And the fix is permanent too
