Hi all
put the engine in today and discovered that there is no room for the compressor
Just wondering if anyone has done above mentioned conversion using the aircon? and if so what they did to get the compressor to fit?
cheers
I think cmrs does a conversion kit for these, have you tried asking them.
Otherwise you are gonna have to get creative, like any engine swaps you may have to make a new bracket and mount it somwhere completely different to where it is now. You might have to swap the a/c and alternator around for example. It will be fun, but you must have the know how if you are doin the engine swap. Will be worth it to have the A/c.
Be interesting to see a my ride thread with updates on what you are doing and how our doing it as the question is often asked here on ls1 conversions![]()
Yes the know how.. haha
just using the usual method of asking people and then trying things till something works
Have had a looked around and ur right there is a kit but that goes with a different compresser, sanden type? and is quite dear (around $450 + compressor)
So have decided I will just ditch it for now and go the adaptor route later once its running and regoed etc and got a bit more cash XD
windows up... windows down...
problem solved?
temporarily lol
Thank god it has power windows, not bad for $700 ay
i would be using the a/c compressor the ls1 came with and modify the wiring loom to suit it and get someone like enzed or whatever to make custom hoses to connect it. the basic principal is all the same compressor needs to go on... and off plus a pressure switch (possibly) to stop the compressor from working if there is no gas.. howd you go with the conversion??? id be glad to chat to you about this as i wanna do this conversion to my VR statesman
