I recently purchased a VS Commodore and noticed that the bottom section of the airbox only has a hole in the front and does not lead anywhere. My previous was a VX which has a snorkel that goes over the radiator. I was wondering whether the VS is supposed to have another bit to it or it just opens up at the front??
Also I have been researching the Holden S/C V6 CAI and I am wondering what the difference is between the standard lower part of the airbox and the one you can purchase to go with the S/C V6 CAI?
Cheers.
just uploading some pics youll see in a sec mate
not sure about the first bit maybe it had been drilled or something?
and the difference is there is a section cut out i just bought a CAI myself and also got the previously cut out air box for a good deal off ebay, heres some pics so you can see what the difference is.....
the cut out air box is not essential you can easily do it your self i just bought it because i got it for a good price and when it comes to selling i can take the cut out one off and put the stock one back on.
yeah i think most cai s come with the modafied air bow anyway
The CAI will only come with the piping to the air box and the mouth if you order them.
You can also order the bottom of the airbox from Holden thats already cut out for the S/C CAI.
I replaced my 100mm pissy pipe that sticks out of the air box to the supercharged CAI and cut the airbox myself using a hacksaw blade and garden snips. XD
yes the cut out air box is extra they dont come with the mouth or pipe
sweet, cheers for the info.
so does anyone have pics of a STOCK airbox out of a vs?? I am still trying to suss out how it is meant to be... my mine appears to just have a hole on the front of the airbox into the engine bay... i noticed yesterday that due to this (and maybe a high flow air filter, havent looked yet?) you can really hear the air getting drawn in, especially when you give it some.
TONY vs dont have the corner cut out.. also it sounds like its missing the air inlet which goes in the box and straight in behind the headlight/radiator...either some one forgot to put it back or they took it out.....just for the sound! if its not in there you might get a bit of warm air from the engine bay which no big prob but cold airs better![]()
There is a stock air intake for you.
arrr.. this was a mistake and i cant delete it!
youre telling me! the thing practically whistles when you accelerate and then when you get up to about 4 - 4 and a half grand it sounds like a bloody turbo!!
thanks for the info/pics guys, youve been heaps helpful. i may have to suss out a 2nd hand s/c v6 cai or something just to fill the gap.
