I bolted the engine and gearbox together on the floor with the torque converter already connected to the flex plate. The car wouldn't drive (laboring, chugging and then no drive) very well at all when started so I disconnected the torque converter and undid the gearbox enough to slide backwards so that i could manouvre the torque converter in to the correct position. My problem now is that when the gearbox is bolted up to the engine the torque converter actually sits about 5 to 10 mm away from the flex plate.
[B]How do you tell if the pump has been pushed into the gearbox without going to the effort of putting it all back together ?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
