VR Connecting Back Speakers to Original Radio

I have an original radio casset in my VR Ute with the standard 2 speaker setup in the doors. I cut the wires in the harness to run new wires for the back speakers to connect speakers to the back with new wiring. For some reason they dont work. The fronts still work fine, the radio still worked perfect but there is no sound from the speakers i connected. I changed one of them with a different speaker thinking i might have faulty speakers but still nothing. Im 99.9% sure i connected them correctly and even if i some how put the positive wire on the radio to the negative on the speaker it would still work but with less treble. So can someone tell me whats the go there ?

lol, I know this sounds stupid but have you made sure that the fader knob thingy isn't all the way to the front? We had a customer at my old smash shop that accused us of damaging their stereo because rear speakers wouldn't work...turned out that someone had turned the fader knob around....
