    Default Vs ss gilmer drive question

    Hey Guys, just wondering if its possible to put a Gilmer Drive on my ss if it still has the clutch fan on it and no thermo fans? i have seen heaps of gilmers on cars with thermos but not clutch fans....

    im pretty sure you can, my mate had the gilmer setup on his vs clubby and was running the clutch fan still

    is it hard to keep the air con as well or is it true u stuff up ur alternator with all that tension and does ur car run hotter

    the tighter(more noisy) you go the more chance of screwing the water pump as i think it puts more pressure on the pulley.. but from what i have been told your car doesnt run hotter..i think with the aircon you have to but another pulley and pack it out with washers , but im not 2 sure..

    the gilmer drives are just a wank factor, you only need them on high performance n/a or force fed engines, and it stops belts from slipping

    if ya wana retain your air con. machine your standard crank pulley down so its only a single row instead of the standard 3 row. then bolt the gilmer pulley inside that one. i done this on my vn. this way you retain your standard air con with no need to space or modify lines or belts.
    all you will need to do is space your power steer pump and get an different size belt for it.
    theres a thread around that all this is in. if ya cant find it and need more info let me know as i have done it before
