hi there, just recently my car has ben making a weird bubbling like noise coming from the front left wheel. it sounds similar to when the water is boiling in a radiator. it happens when sittin or at a very low speed whilst turning the wheel. i was told it maybe the cv joint, is this true?
any help wud b great as its so annoying
cheers
Commodores dont have CV joints at the front. The cars that have IRS use CV joints at the rear though. You might check the power steering, its the only thing I can think of that would be making a noise near the front wheels when they are turned left or right.Especially if the car is not actually moving.
yea thats wot i was told too, u hear so many stories nowadays. dunno hu to believe lol.
any thorts tho?
I think the radiator overflow tank is on that side, could be that.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
it def isnt that dude. even when u start the car 1st thing in da morn and turn that noise is there. its got pedder struts in it, wud this be a factor in sum way?
Better have a look, take of the wheel and get some one to turn the steering wheel.
How is your power steering fluid level?
check your sway bar link pin bushes and washers , check your engine mounts are they sitting on the cross member , i have in the past i had O2 sensor's rattling ???
If it sounds like it's coming from behind the glovebox which is in the general direction of the front left wheel it will be the A/C gas low - it tends to bubble and squeak as it passes thru the TX valve to the evaporator....or maybe air gurgling in the heater although it's summer.
just jacked da car up and i saw that the sway bar rubber bush had a gap of about 2cm when i turn to the left. is this normal? also it didnt make the noise when the wheel was off, when i put it back on i made sure the rubber sat on the sway bar properly. lowered it back down and the noise was very quiet but still there. maybe i need to replace the bushes in da front end
Sounds like they could be worn, you can usually tell from the look of em,if they look old and shabby and worn/squashed then they most likely need replacing. Its hard to tell with one side jacked up.Really you need to check them out with the car level on both sides.Id get nolothane(urethane) ones instead of rubber ,they last heaps longer.
Your first post said: "it happens when sittin or at a very low speed whilst turning the wheel".....if it happens when sitting it wouldn't be suspension unless you mean turning the wheel whilst sitting???
hako: sorry bout the confusion but yea i meant turning the sterring wheel whilst sittin.
sorry bout that i was in a rush.
bret jjj: yea i think they need replacing coz they are a lil squashed and hav cracks in them
cheers guys
I'm just doing a few mental things here trying to figure your problem:
So if it happens when sitting and turning the steering wheel it possibly would not be the sway bar bushes as they are stationary unless the wheel is going over a bump or up/down etc.......that then leads to the strut bearing at the top of the shock absorber/spring tower....if the bearing and rubber mount fails there it will make some strange noises.
Bleed the air system?
WTF is the air system?Its a car,not a Kenworth.
u cud b rite hako, but it sounds like it comes behind the brake disc. when i jacked it up and saw the gap in the rubber bush, i pushed it back down. lowered the car and the noise was a lot quieter. i dunno i mite hav to take it my local susp expert
If its coming from around the disk area I'd also check the ball joint in there as well.
lol cheers for the input guys, i mite take to an expert coz im not that clued up when it cums to that kind of thing
