just wondering how many litres you have to be down to for the fuel light to come on in VS??
Im pretty sure its around 8 litres
Fuel tank capacity is 68 liters. Light comes on after using 60 liters. Therefore answer is 8 liters.
The VS Owners Handbook which comes in the glovebox from the manufacturer says the fuel light will come on when 8 litres are left. The fuel tank capacity of a VS sedan is 59 litres or 73 with the larger tank ....but 99% have the 59 litre tank.
The gregorys workshop manual says sedan is 63 litres, the ute is 64 litres, station wagon is 68 litres and the statesman is 75 litres.Id believe hako's VS handbook first.Ive got a VN handbook and it says sedan 63 litres, optional tank-85 litres, and wagon 68 litres.

I think the real truth is that the tank will hold 63 litres as in the VN, but the last 4 litres takes a looong time to dribble in, so for the VS the General said 59 litres. The book also says you can "trickle fill" the tank if you are going to drive the car at least 50km after filling otherwise there is not enough room for expansion on a hot day. So maybe you can "trickle fill" and get 63 litres in the tank, but not under normal circumstances which is what the General is on about when he says 59 litres.
Yeah,VN handbook says the same thing about the trickle fill if travelling. It makes sense too,the fuel has to go somewhere when it expands..they might have had a problem with VN's when they were filled so full, so maybe they lowered the recommended capacity. The tanks look the same,Im not sure if a VS tank will fit into a VN or visa versa.Ive got a long range fuel tank from a VN and always wondered if it will fit my VS.It(the VN) had two fuel pumps though.Internal and external pumps.
I have original VS and VSII brochures and according to them, the VS V6 sedan had a 63L tank and the VSII V6 seden had a 59L tank.. maybe you are both right?
