what type of power steering rack ?

What exactly is wrong with the old one?Sometimes they get a groaning,moaning sound which sounds like the pump or rack is stuffed,but its not them that does this,and its easy to fix,and costs nothing.The speed sensitive power steering was standard on the calais,not sure if it was an option on any other models.

man its been leaking fluid for over a year , its worse now its all over my gearbox and underneath the car plus theres a little bit of movement in the front wheels and since ive got all new ball joints etc im guessing its the rack ,

You can get reconditioned racks,not sure what they are like though.Have to be cheaper that a new one.Id check em out against the price of a new one.The ones there on ebay are cheap enough though.Should be ok.
