Hi all, i want to change the shift solenoids in my dads V6 VR Calais, as i believe they are playing up and dont need a full auto rebuild as mechanic is insisting, does anyone have any pics of these solenoids while still in the trans? I've never attempted this before thats why im asking and my Haynes workshop manual is useless, is there any tricks i should know about before attempting this job? Thanks in advance.
Mate they are easy as to change. All you have to do is, drop the pan and you will see 2 shift solenoids at the back of the value body. They are held in by a clip, undo the clip with a screw driver and unclip the wiring and she will pop out. To put it back in, all you have to do is push it in and push the clip back in. To test the shift solenoids, run 12 volts to one side of the clip and earth the other side. You will hear it clicking, if its good. But before you do all that, check fuse number 18 (i think) and see if it is blown, cuz that will cuz your transmission to play up
NEVER LATE IN A 355ci
In addition to what BT1-355 says, check for error codes as bad solenoids normally leave an error code.
