Default Would having different sized rims on front and back be bad?

    Hey Guys,
A mate of mine has 18's on the front and 19's on the back of his VR. Would this have any major implications/advantages/disadvantages, or is it more illegal than just having plain 18 or 19's? He assures me its fine but I just wanted to know.

Its not illegal. the law is that the fronts work as a pair, and the rears work as a pair.

18s on the front and 19s on the back wont have any problems either. Your mate is right.

The only disadvantage is it would look ****in stupid! But hey, so do alot of peoples cars....

Alot of import/jap cars and show cars do this from when I remember reading Austosalon mags. alot ran with a 17 pair on the front and 18s on the rear. They were more race or drift cars, not really rice lol

It's a very popular trend with american muscle cars at the moment having 20's on the rear and 18 or 19's on the front looks like an abortion but thats just my opinion.

As others have stated it is perfectly legal - ACT follow the NCOP

Here's the link you want Page 16.

Pay particular attention to the aspect ratio. It cannot vary by more than 10 front to back....18's-19's is not such a problem as he probably has 40 series front and 35 series rears (variance is 5).

If you had like someone suggested 17's-20's then that would be illegal because youd have a 45 aspect on the front and probably a 30 on the rear (variance of 15).

So running 16 stockies on the back and 20s on the fronts illegal?
not that I do it.. It looks stupid.. But I've seen it and wondered would that knock your speedo out too?

My previous comment related to ACT which have already adopted the NCOP, NSW still have their own regs which make no mention of aspect ratio... hence making it legal to have 16"-20" split as an example.

The speedo won't be out provided the outer diameter of the tyres is the same.
