hey guys
i want to lower my 1997 VS (IRS) with super low king springs but i dont no if i need to change shocks or anythin wat i'v been reading is i might need to change camber kits
what does this mean ? how much ?
ive been quoted 450 for pedders springs installed which i think is really expensive so my idea is buy parts myself and get someone to install for me......... do i only need springs or should i change shocks or camber kits as well? coz i dont want to chew away at tyres yet i want it to be cheap as possible
any help at all would be much apreacitated
cheers NIKO
Get shortened shocks and struts. Camber wear gets worse the lower you go. Hasn't really chewed through my tyres.
Have a search around, it's been covered a fair bit.
Hi Niko,
Yep, with Super Lows definitely best to go to a shortened shock setup to maintain performance/saftey/longivity.
We do springs and shocks as a package deal:
KYB / Kings Commodore Lowering Packages!
The rear camber kit is preferable, but not critical. A 4 pt Whiteline Kit is $179.

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

thanks guys but would it work if i just put the springs in with the camber kit ??? would this be just as good as new shocks in havin less tyre wear ??
coz i really dont wanna have to spend over 1000$ to just lower my vs
cheers
No, it won't be just as good. Shocks have nothing to do with tyre wear. Camber and dampening are two completely different things. Re-read the post that GSLRallySport made.
I would be more worried about wearing out the standard height shocks (if you use them) than the camber kit. I run mine without a camber kit, and it hasn't "chewed" through tyres, I've had the same set for the last 20,000 since I did it, and honestly, they're wearing pretty evenly at this point.
As for not wanting to spend over $1000, don't cheap out on things like this, you get what you pay for. If you want to lower your car do it once, do it right. You WILL need to get a wheel alignment afterward. And, if your car is still running with the original strut tops, you may need to replace those as well.
I saved a lot by doing this myself at a mates place. Doing the back is really, really, easy.
Replacing Rear Springs (IRS)
The fronts are more difficult.
How To: Change Springs/Shock (This is done on a VP though, the VR/VS are a bit different)
thanks Alot R J K
that cleared up alot man cheers![]()
