!!!Dangerous and serious problem??PLEASE HELP

hey guys
ive had a knock in my front end for a while now. today i was udner my car looking at my sway bar links. Just wondering if they are supposed to be loose!!! I grabbed the steel rod that comes down from the strut and it moves side to side a good half inch... Is this a serious problem and could this be the reason for the knock???

Yes, it will cause the noise.
No it isn't too serious.
A $45 link pin kit will fix it.

The problem is that the bushes wear, break and fall out.

so they arnt supposed to move ??

no there not ment to move side to side if they have free play in them that will be where the knock sound is coming from. Cheap and easy to fix. Not a major problem.

Replace them with the ball joint type ones theyve bought out.
The last heck of alot longer, the genuine ones are hopeless and some come with a lifetime warranty.

...and after you replace them you'll find that the front end really reacts differently in a good way
